football recruiting maintains that he is firm in his pledge to the Crimson Tide, but he plans on making a final decision closer to National Signing Day. "I'm not sure where I'm going, but I'm still trying to take my official visits," he said. "I just want to make sure I'm making the best decision, and I'll go from there. I'll see what happens, but I'm glad I came here. Notre Dame was great." Many Notre Dame fans had given up on Crete, Ill., four-star linebacker Nyles Morgan, but that all changed after his official visit to South Bend. "I liked what I saw on my visit, and I'm much more interested in looking into Notre Dame now," said Morgan, who is listed by 247Sports as the No. 85 overall recruit in the land, the No. 4 inside linebacker in the country and the No. 3 prospect in Illinois. "I'd say they have a high chance with me. They showed me things that impressed me. "Coach [Bob] Diaco and I had a real long talk about playing defense for him, and I got a better look at his work and how he wants to incorporate me in his defense. We had never gotten a chance to talk football, and we talked one on one about what he's built at Notre Dame." The toughest competition for Notre Dame will come from a few SEC programs. Ole Miss and Vanderbilt have long been considered the favorites for Morgan, but Notre Dame is firmly in the mix. The Irish also laid out the red carpet for Fresno, Calif., four-star wide receiver Michiah Quick, and it looks like the effort made the desired impression.
