Lindy's: Under "Top Newcomer," this assessment is given of Walton: "The heralded point guard has all the tools to step right into the starting point guard role and will do his best to ignore the inevitable comparisons to predecessor Trey Burke." ❏ Basketball Notebook • Head coach John Beilein made it clear at Michigan's media day that his forwards are basically interchangeable, perhaps to calm some of the speculation over whether sophomore forward Glenn Robinson III would be a fixed feature at small forward or play more of the "four," or power forward role, he did last year. Assistant coach Jeff Meyer noted Robinson brings the length and skills to help the Wolverines in a variety of ways. "He will get there [to the four] at some point in time," Meyer said. "As we look at our roster, I think our biggest concern is, where are we going to be defensively? All the close games are going to come down to getting defensive stops. Who is going to be that defensive lineup we want on the court if we need two or three consecutive stops, which will invariably happen? "I think 70 percent of the teams we played last year used a stretch four or basically a small forward at the four position. That lends itself to, 'If you're going to play small, we can play small.'
