  from our readers Hating The Late Starts Dear The Wolverine: I realize that television dictates a lot of the starting times for college football games. However, in the last couple of years, Michigan seems to have had an inordinate number of 3:30 p.m. games in late October and early November. These are not ideal starting times. I would hope that David Brandon would not be the catalyst for these starting times. I remember Bo saying football in Ann Arbor was meant to be played at 12 p.m. I realize all games can't be played at noon, but a few more wouldn't hurt, especially later in the year. Frank Meredith Warren, Mich. Bo Schembechler's exact quote was as follows, Frank: "Toe meets leather at 1 p.m. If people want to come and take pictures of it then, fine." While we laud the sentiment, that ship has long since sailed. Television calls the shots, not David Brandon, when it comes to those start times. The 3:30 games are actually a sign of program progress, for better or worse, in terms of schedule. Teams that aren't as good/attractive tend to fall to the noon slot, while the bigger-name teams and contenders are more likely to be showcased at 3:30, or at night. You've seen the result of Michigan's football resurgence in the dearth of noon starts. I drove right back to Pittsburgh after the game, but I was still stuck in State College as to what I had just seen. This team and its coaches are hard to figure out. After being embarrassed by Indiana last week, Penn State was going to give its best effort for a Homecoming crowd. So what do we do?
