women's basketball Moore: "You can see it in the way they've come in. [Fifth-year senior center] Val Driscoll is much more athletic. They've all put in so much work. [Junior guard] Nicole Elmblad is in the best shape of her life. She tells me that all the time. The veterans have bought in, and they're stringing the freshmen along, so they're understanding what that looks like, too." The Wolverine: Are you starting to see the type of program you had envisioned when you first arrived here? Moore: "Definitely. It's a special place. It's Michigan, for God's sakes. We're ecstatic to be here. When you're out in these homes or in schools, you're selling something special, and people believe in it. It really is uni- versal. We were out in Italy this summer, and we went into a store where they were selling Michigan shirts. The Block M is everywhere, and now it's just about portraying that to our recruits, which is exciting and fun." The Wolverine: What are the areas where you're still looking for improvement to get to the place you want to be? Moore: "Probably rebounding. We lack size this year, and that's where the toughness comes in. You really have to be in shape, because it takes a lot of energy and effort to go in after loose balls and to mix it up. We're still looking to improve that rebounding toughness." — Andy Reid Go Blue! michigan's Greatest Football Stories 6x9 Softcover • 272 pages • B&W Photos Some of the greatest untold stories from Michigan's football program are shared in this book based on intimate interviews with former players and coaches. Due to his long history covering Michigan football, author Steve Kornacki was given open-door access to Lloyd Carr, Bo Schembelcher, and Gary Moeller, all of whom provided hours of their time sharing their personal accounts and of occurrences during their coaching tenures; the stuff that legends are made of. Stories include being in the Michigan locker room after Bo Schembechler's last game in the Big House and hearing his rousing speech leading the team in "The Victors" as they punctuated each verse by thrusting red roses toward the ceiling. mail to: The Wolverine • P.o.
