basketball recruiting The Wolverines have made strides with Columbia (S.C.) Spring Valley shooting guard P.J. Dozier, who is rated by Rivals.com as the No. 33 overall prospect in the class of 2015. photo courtesy rivals.com Dozier Sr. was a standout center in the '80s with brother Terry, both playing at South Carolina. He coaches his son and sees what many of the college coaches recruiting like about him. "No. 1, his IQ is very, very high," he said. "That's his No. 1 attribute — he's so intelligent with his game. We've always had him playing point guard since he was 4, and he'd always play a few grades up. That always made him the smallest kid out there, but we knew he would grow. "Sure enough, he's 6-6 now, plays any position and shoots the ball well. He's very poised, won't force anything and allows the game to come to him. He's always in control and very calm." North Carolina has been his dream school, but that doesn't necessarily give the Tar Heels the leg up, Dozier Sr. said. "P.J. is very mature, so he'll admit they were definitely a dream school. On the other hand, he's evaluating things and looking for the best fit," he said. "Roy [Williams] comes by and sees him, and P.J. is very interested, but he's looking at all programs and the fit all the way around that will give him great opportunities before and after his basketball career, taking all those things into consideration. "We have talked, and we finally got to our top-10 list. Then we'll get to a top five, and then a top five we'll officially visit. We'll do two or three unofficial visits within driving distance. South Carolina we'll visit because we're here, and it's easy." Michigan, though, has a great chance to receive an official. "I don't want to say for sure he will, but right now they're definitely among his top schools to visit," Dozier Sr. said. "When he talks about being recruited, Michigan is one of those he talks about most. I can tell they are way up there." ❏   On The Web For regular reports on basketball recruiting, plus videos of all the top prospects in the nation and Michigan's commitments, visit TheWolverine.com.
