to redshirt sophomore Tim McAvoy. McAvoy suffered an injury, though, but to prove just how little they trusted Mitchell, Michigan's staff actually moved redshirt freshman Steve Schilling from right tackle to right guard. He played there two games before Ciulla returned to the starting lineup. Taking the hint, Mitchell turned it on and won his spot back but then lost it again. In total, U-M used four different right guards while not one of the four started more than three consecutive games. Quarterback — 2008: Rich Rodriguez's first season in Ann Arbor included a quarterback carousel with walk-on junior Nick Sheridan, redshirt freshman Steve Threet and true freshman Justin Feagin. Sheridan started the opener, but both he and Threet threw 19 passes in a loss to Utah. Right Guard — 2009: A returning starter in his senior year, David Moosman had the right guard job locked up, but he missed week three with an injury, necessitating redshirt junior John Ferrara's appearance at the position. A week later, Moosman returned, but at center, to fill in for an injured David Molk. Ferrara, meanwhile, had not impressed in his one game, leading to redshirt sophomore Mark Huyge's move from right tackle to right guard. That is where Huyge played for four games, momentarily giving the gig back to Moosman when Molk returned from injury in week eight. When Molk went down again, Moosman slid over and Huyge was back in the lineup for week nine. However, he struggled, and the coaches decided to try redshirt freshman Patrick Omameh at right guard for the final three contests. All total, four different Wolverines started. — Michael Spath
