football recruiting ROUNDUP Recruiting Notes • Many people felt that the Fighting Irish were losing ground with McDonough, Ga., four-star linebacker Andrew Williams, but that doesn't seem to be the case. The 6-4, 247-pound recruit has Notre Dame in his top five — along with Auburn, Clemson, Ole Miss and Tennessee — and he said that he will take all five official visits after his season, including one to South Bend. A vital element here is that his best friend is current Notre Dame freshman defensive end Isaac Rochell, and the two have talked about playing together in college for the past few years. Williams is the No. 229 overall recruit in the 2014 class, the No. 13 weakside defensive end in the nation and the No. 18 player in Georgia according McDonough, Ga., fourstar linebacker Andrew to the 247Composite rankings. • Notre Dame continues to trend up for another prospect committed Williams has a top five elsewhere in Bradenton, Fla., running back Bo Scarbrough. Per the 247Composite rankings, Scarbrough is the No. 32 overall prospect in the country, the No. 3 athlete in the land and the No. 4 player in Florida. • Dallas Bishop Dunne Catholic four-star cornerback Nick Watkins is the newest member of Notre Dame's 2014 class. The 6-1, 185-pound prospect spoke to head coach Brian Kelly Oct. 31 and then went public with his commitment after speaking with defensive coordinator Bob Diaco Nov. 1. The Irish continue to sit in great shape for Watkins' three-star teammate Payton Hendrix, as well. Look for a feature on Watkins in our next issue.
