michigan in the pros mer Wolverine Rickey Green before he took the reins. "Trey, in particular, has a great opportunity to learn where he's not forced into the action," Stockton said. "Being hurt might actually be a positive for him because it gives him a chance to sit there [and watch]. "I know my first years sitting on the bench largely behind Rickey Green was a great learning tool for me. I would recommend that for young guards, especially if teams can manage to do it … sit some of these highly valued guys coming out, give them a chance to see how the team works without being stuck in the fray." Tim Hardaway Jr. Has Earned His Playing Time As A Rookie Former Michigan guard Tim Hardaway Jr. impressed with the New York Knicks in the preseason, earning minutes coming off the team's bench in the regular season. He has continued to play well, averaging 7.9 points and 1.2 rebounds per game during New York's 3-6 start. He was on the floor for nearly the entire fourth quarter in an 82-81 loss at Chicago Oct. 31, one in which he scored 10 points. "In the Chicago game, Tim stepped up," Knicks head coach Mike Woodson told The New York Post. "He's a young kid that's poised." Hardaway scored 14 points on 5-of-8 shooting in a 95-91 win at Atlanta Nov. 13, his best game as a pro. "Coach said before the [Bulls] game, 'People that are playing well are going to stay on the court and here's an opportunity to play,'" Hardaway said. "Once I heard that, I just tried to take advantage, just tried to do the little things: play defense, run the floor hard, box out, defend on the low post."   The NFL Tom Brady And New England Lose In Controversial Fashion Tom Brady seemed set for one more play from the Carolina 2-yard line that would have given the former U-M standout a chance to complete the 33rd fourth-quarter comeback of his career. Instead, officials picked up a pass interference flag on the game's last play, securing the Panthers' 24-20 win Nov. 18. Replays showed Panthers linebacker Luke Kuechly wrapping Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski in a bear hug, preventing him from getting to the ball. The pass was intercepted. "[Gronkowski] was kind of weaving in and out of there, and I just didn't really want to throw it over his head and out of bounds," Brady told the New York Post. "So I was a little indecisive. It wasn't a great throw. No excuses. It should've been a better throw." Brady finished 29-of-40 passing for 296 yards with one touchdown. The Patriots remained atop the AFC East with a 7-3 record despite the loss, two games ahead of the New York Jets and Miami Dolphins.
