  from our readers Where's My Michigan? Dear The Wolverine: For 40 years I have been a proud active participant in Michigan football. It began when Bo brought in his third class in '71. I graduated from college in 1976 and have maintained the same four seats in Michigan Stadium ever since. The Bo, Gary, Lloyd era brought many a high and very few lows. That continued until the "Rich Rod" disaster. My enthusiasm rose greatly when Brady Hoke took the helm. Finally we had a Michigan man. Now after loss after disappointing loss it has become obvious that we are not close to being in the top tier of the Big Ten Conference or anywhere in the national spotlight. The Michigan fans I speak with feel we have quite some time to go before getting back to where we want to be. There is nothing but disappointment expressed among us. I went to that game in East Lansing and left cold, wet and totally embarrassed. Thankfully we did not get any harassment from the MSU fans. I walked into my office today and took the heat once again for a terrible game and loss to MSU. Emails and notes on my desk, comments surprisingly mostly from the Michigan fans. The MSU fans left me alone, I am sure, out of pity. You would think after six years I would get used to losing the in-state battle. But this game was beyond ugly, it was pitiful and an embarrassment to those who support this program. I don't blame the boys on the team, they are kids doing their best. I do put some blame on the coaches, because they are the paid professionals that should get the blame. The real disappointment today is the feeling of not knowing if this program will ever be what it once was. Most of us cannot see it right now. Sure we have the best stadium. We have great traditions. And some still think that Michigan is a marquee program. But many of us close to the program are having our doubts. Take a poll around the state of Michigan and the Sparty group is much larger than the Michigan group. Time to ignore David Brandon's marketing of the events, fancy videos and flyovers and get down to practicing and playing good football that we can be proud of. Some of us still remember those great defenses, those great running backs and those scrambling quarterbacks. We remember the teams that
