Commitments in bold italics Recruiting Notes • MSG Varsity came out with its 2013 All-New Jersey football teams in mid-December and Red Bank (N.J.) Catholic four-star offensive tackle and Notre Dame commit Quenton Nelson made the list. The 6-5, 295-pound recruit helped pave the way for an offensive attack that averaged 279 rushing yards and 43.5 points per game. 247Sports ranks Nelson as the No. 64 overall prospect in the 2014 class, the No. 6 offensive tackle in the land and the No. 2 player in New Jersey. • Carrollton (Ga.) punter and Notre Dame commit Tyler Newsome saw his season come to an end Dec. 14 in the Class AAAA state title game. He and his Trojans teammates lost 56-35 to Griffin (Ga.). in the Georgia Dome and finished the season 13-2. Newsome will now turn his attention to his final high school contest in the Semper-Fi All-American Bowl Jan. 5 in Carson, Calif. 247Sports ranks the 6-3, 190-pound prospect as a three-star recruit, the nation's No. 2 punter and the No. 95 overall player in Georgia. • Indianapolis Speedway wide receiver and Notre Dame commit Justin Brent will early enroll in South Bend Jan. 12. He will begin class Jan. 14 and immediately begin working out with the team. The four-star recruit is currently listed at 6-3 and 210 pounds. Brent is ranked as the No. 62 overall recruit in the 2014 class, the No. 5 wide receiver in the country and the No. 1 player in Indiana by 247Sports. • Washington (D.C.) Friendship Academy four-star offensive guard Quarvez Boulware could be the next prospect to earn an offer from Notre Dame.
