the opportunity to resign Tuck, but will have to pur-
sue him in free agency.
• Former Irish quarterback Jimmy Clausen
(2007-09) is officially a free agent. The Carolina Pan-
thers released him in August but placed him on in-
jured reserve to keep him on the roster through the
2013-14 season. Clausen recently returned to Notre
Dame to complete his degree.
NHL NOTES
Through March 10
• The Vancouver Canucks acquired the rights to
current Notre Dame left wing Jeff Costello from
the Ottawa Senators in a trade March 4. He had
scored 12 goals and recorded eight assists through
35 games for the Irish this season.
• Anaheim Ducks right wing Kyle Palmieri has re-
corded nine goals and 15 assists in 55 games this
season.
• Detroit Red Wings center Riley Sheahan has
scored four goals and notched 10 assists in 24 games
since being called up from the Grand Rapids Griffins.
• New York Islanders center Anders Lee has scored
four goals and added an assist in six games.
BASKETBALL NOTES
Through March 10
• Former Irish forward Jack Cooley (2009-13) was
averaging 13.4 points and 4.2 rebounds in 21 games
with Trabzonspor in Turkey.
• Former Notre Dame forward Scott Martin (2008-
13) was averaging 15.4 points and 9.4 rebounds in 24
minutes per game with the Newcastle Eagles of the
British Basketball League.
• Former Irish forward Carleton Scott (2007-11)
was averaging 6.7 points and 3.6 rebounds in 22
games with JuveCaserta in Italy.
• Former Notre Dame guard Kyle McAlarney
(2005-09) was averaging 14.8 points and 2.2 assists
per game with Orleans in France. ✦
