Golson refused to discuss the events leading up to the separation from the university, but referred to an earlier interview with Sports Illustrated in which he admitted to cheating. "Now is more about me moving for- ward," he said. Two years after leading the Irish to the BCS National Championship Game, Golson returns to direct a young Irish offense. He has thrown just two career completions to players who are participating in the team's 2014 spring practice (one to junior wide receiver Chris Brown and one to senior tight end Ben Koyack). With the dual-threat quarterback at the helm, the Notre Dame offense will sport a much different look in the season opener against Rice Aug. 30 than it did last fall. "We all know college football and where it is — the quarterback is really going to be the centerpiece of this of- fense," head coach Brian Kelly said. "The way we run it is going to fall on him.
