This year, minus Skylar Diggins, one
of the most visible athletes in school
history, McGraw forged what col-
leagues compliment as an even better
all-around team.
HUMBLE ROOTS
The 1977 graduate of St. Joseph's
University in Philadelphia began her
coaching career at Archbiship Carroll
High in Radnor, Pa., and after posting
a 28-0 record she became an assistant at
St. Joseph's before accepting the Lehigh
head coaching post in 1982.
The Engineers were 7-15 each of the
previous two seasons, but she tran-
formed them to 14-9 her first season,
and by her fourth year the 24-4 team
had won a conference title.
Thus, when McGraw was hired by
Notre Dame on May 18, 1987, after a
McGraw said the growing pains of her first decade as the head coach at Notre Dame prepared her for the
unprecedented run of recent success her teams have enjoyed.
