FAN FORUM be a disappointment, because he also is on the record that continuing to rely on win‑ ning games 17‑13 or 14‑10 (like versus Michigan State and USC last year) prob‑ ably won't cut it anymore. However, one can't just gauge it by stats, either. If the Irish open with 50 points against Rice and then 10 the next week against Michigan, that comes out to "30 points per game." There has to be a consistent element, too, not just piling up numbers against inferior opposition. Put it this way: We'd take a 24‑21 win at Florida State any day, even if it's not an offensive outburst. In the end, it's still about finding a way to win collectively. ✦ FROM THE WEBSITE News about Notre Dame being in discussion with the University of Georgia for a couple of games later this decade created excitement among Fighting Irish fandom who believe the Peach State should be recruited more frequently for its fertile football talent that has recently included wide receiver TJ Jones and defensive lineman Stephon Tuitt. An inquiry was made on BlueandGold.com that besides "The Big Three" of Florida, Texas and California, which two states would you like to see Notre Dame recruit with more ardor: Jiggafini19: No question: Georgia and Virginia. I'm not sure if it is because of population going else- where, demographics, etc., but it seems like the high school talent coming out of Pennsylvania isn't what it used to be. It would appear Ohio is still very good and New Jersey keeps getting better. MC51: Georgia and Jersey. Conjar: Virginia and North Carolina. Notre Damefan: For some reason I feel like we don't have a presence with South Carolina, but feel like we actually have a shot in North Carolina. Georgia would be my 1 seed, and if we had a play-in game for the 2 seed, it would be NC vs. Virginia. Gulinias: I'd like for us to improve our percentage in California and Florida with the top kids. I see Ohio is getting more love this year. Jersey to me is a problem and we need to hit the state hard because Ron Franklin at Penn State is not going to be easy to beat out. NDJosh: Georgia and Georgia. ND1981: New Jersey and South Carolina. Ronmessina1: Both Carolinas. Canuck118: Illinois and Pennsylvania. Two states they need to do better. IrishPride91: Alabama and Louisiana. Cc0011: Alabama and Georgia, with Mississippi a close third. This is where the big, fast, defensive line- men are. Todd42: Georgia and Louisiana. Home and home with Georgia is a step in the right direction. Greg bell: New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Also, Maryland has a lot of Catholic schools and Notre Dame has usually underachieved there. Lots of talent in that state. I don't think Notre Dame should spend a minute recruiting Alabama, Mississippi or Arkansas. Waste of time. Georgia has too much talent to pass up. Louisiana is probably a waste of time, too, but there are some Catholics there so they have to try. 619 Irish: Catholic schools or lack thereof is a lame reason to recruit or not recruit certain areas. Egastro2: Delaware and North Dakota. They are two states that are completely neglected.
