Madison Cable and post player Marki- sha Wright. • Loyd, a first-team All-American, al- ready has been classified by head coach Muffet McGraw as the best athlete she's ever coached in her 27 years with the Irish. Loyd will be one of the marquee figures in the women's game the next two years after averaging a team-high 18.6 points per game while also ranking second in rebounds with 6.5 per contest. She is on pace to eclipse Diggins as the program's all-time leading scorer. • Allen started every game as the freshman point guard and "exceeded all my expectations," according to Mc- Graw. She shot 49.7 percent from the field while averaging 6.2 points per game, but her role was to run the of- fense efficiently, which she did with a team-high 150 assists. She had 28 assists and only five turnovers in the six NCAA Tournament contests. • The sharp-shooting Mabrey is the second-leading scorer returning with an 8.6 average while converting 42.1 percent of her 72 treys, which were 31 more than anyone else. • A top-five recruit in 2013, Reimer averaged 7.4 points and 4.6 rebounds in 19.2 minutes per game, similar to Achonwa's 6.9 points, 5.3 rebounds and 18.3 minutes per contest as a freshman. Building more stamina will be essential as she heads into a starting role. • The three-woman incoming class is ranked No. 5 by ESPNHoopsGurlz. com, with the 6-3 Turner ranked No. 2 nationally. The Gatorade National Girls Bas- ketball Player of the Year was also the MVP of the McDonald's All-Star Game April 3 after scoring 11 points, includ- ing the game-winner, and grabbing 10 rebounds in the 80-78 West victory. While leading Manvel High to the Texas state title and ending Duncan- ville's 105-game winning streak, Turner scored 17 points, hauled in 17 rebounds and blocked three shots in the 58-53 up- set. A five-time gold medalist for Team USA's junior teams, Turner averaged 20.8 points, 11.5 rebounds, 4.2 assists, 3.9 blocks and 3.7 steals per game as a senior — all in just 23 minutes of action per game. She also has a 3.73 grade- point average on a 4.0 scale and volun- teers for a number of charities. Meanwhile, the 6-2 Westbeld led Ket- tering (Ohio) Fairmont to the school's first state title as a junior and a 23-3 mark her senior year, while shooting 63.5 percent from the field and averag- ing 17.4 points, 10.1 points and 3.1 as- sists per contest. The third freshman, 5-8 combo guard Mychal Johnson from St. Joseph Central High in Huntington, W.Va., is ranked as the No. 80 player by ESPNHoops- Gurlz.com. The four-year captain with a 3.7 GPA helped lead her squad to four straight state titles and a 130-17 overall record, and averaged 20.3 points, 6.0 rebounds, 5.7 assists and 3.7 steals per game. The Irish senior class features the mul- tidimensional Cable (5.5 points and 3.4 rebounds per game), who has a fifth year of eligibility in 2015-16, and Wright, who scored 12 points and grabbed nine rebounds in the Final Four win over Maryland. Because of its youth, the 2014-15 Irish might be advertised as "a year away." Then again, it's been known to surprise in recent years. ✦
