FOOTBALL RECRUITING ROUNDUP Recruiting Notes • Notre Dame and USC are tied at the top for Redlands, Calif., four-star wide receiver Malik Lovette. The 5-11, 180-pounder picked up an offer from the Fighting Irish Feb. 24 and has remained in contact with Notre Dame quarter- backs coach and West Coast recruiter Matt LaF- leur. "Notre Dame is a great program," Lovette said. "I think that I'm going to visit there this sum- mer or for an official visit during my season. I've heard great things, and my parents love that it's a great academic school. That's big for me, but really big for them." Although he's being recruited as a wide re- ceiver by the Irish, Lovette is the No. 5 rated all-purpose back in the nation, the No. 20 recruit in California and the No. 127 overall player in the country per 247Sports. • Orlando, Fla., four-star running back Jacques Patrick informed Blue & Gold Illustrated that he is planning to attend the Irish Invasion camp at Notre Dame June 20. The 6-1, 220-pound pros- pect is one of the nation's premier running backs, and his relationship with Notre Dame running backs coach Tony Alford has kept the Irish in the mix. "Coach Alford is definitely someone I'd consider a friend," Patrick said. "He and I get along great, and he talks to my mom and is just really friendly. Everyone likes him around here. He's the main reason I'm still looking at Notre Dame." According to 247Sports, Patrick is the No. 56 overall player in the land, the No. 10 player in Florida and the No. 3 running back in the country. • Pocatello (Idaho) Highland four-star offensive center and Notre Dame commit Tristen Hoge remains firm in his pledge to the Irish. During his unofficial visit to South Bend April 12, his parents finalized a deal on a house in South Bend. The 6-5, 287-pounder said that his decision to end his recruitment played a big part in his parents' decision to buy a home near Notre Dame's campus. "My folks wanted to have a home near the school that I chose," Hoge said. "We all love Notre Dame, and I'm going to sign with them and go there. Once I was 100 percent with that, they started looking at homes in South Bend and now we have one." 247Sports ranks Hoge as the No. 101 overall prospect in the country, the No. 1 center in the land and the No. 1 recruit in Idaho. — Tom Loy Follow @TomLoy247 on Twitter.
