FOOTBALL RECRUITING Top Camp Performers By Position QB Alex Malzone • Bloomfield Hills (Mich.) Brother Rice The 6-2, 205-pound Michigan commit was sharp all week (he participated Monday-Wednesday), and more than confirmed he's deserving of his four-star status. Most impressively, Malzone wasn't quite as sharp as he has been the rest of the spring and was still the best passer in attendance by a wide margin. He airmailed a couple throws and had to find his accuracy after U-M offensive coordinator Doug Nussmeier tweaked his mechanics at times, but was still poised, strong, and on his trajectory of rapid improvement. RB Elijah Holyfield • College Park (Ga.) Woodward Academy (2016) Holyfield, a 5-10, 195-pounder (and, yes, the son of former heavyweight champion Evander) is built like a bowling ball, but is still very fast. The only tailback to pick up a Michigan offer during the week, he isn't the best at chang- ing directions, but has more than enough ability there to be a threat out of the backfield in addition to his more natural tactic: plowing over defenders with the ball in his hands. In one-on-one competition Tuesday afternoon, he ran one beautiful wheel route and caught the pass right in stride for a score. He has several other offers from programs around the country, but Michigan is one that has made an early impression on him. WR Devin Judd • Olney (Md.) Good Counsel (2016) Judd wasn't the biggest wideout in attendance at 5-11 and only 155 pounds, but he was one of the most explosive. He used technically sound routes and an explosive burst to get on top of defensive backs and make big plays in the pass- ing game. Judd has a frame to put on much more weight, and spending some time in the gym could help him develop into a top 2016 prospect. He comes from the same high school as U-M redshirt junior cornerback Blake Countess. TE Luke Farrell • Perry (Ohio) High School (2016) Farrell was the only tight end to earn a Michigan offer at camp. At 6-6, 235 pounds, he's an intimidating force in the run game and as a tall pass catcher. He showed off athleticism, route-running polish and exceptional hands during his time at the camp. He followed up his U-M offer with one from his favorite team (Ohio State) later in the week, so unfortunately his Wolverine offer could be for naught. OL Liam Eichenberg • Cleveland St. Ignatius (2016) There were plenty of big offensive linemen at Michigan's camp — from a height and a girth perspective. None stood out like Eichenberg, who was massive but muscular, and moved as well as any offensive lineman at the camp. He has lat- eral quickness and pure power, and with more experience, only stands to get better. At 6-5, 284 pounds, he doesn't have the height you'd expect from a true left tackle, but his long arms more than make up for any minor deficiency there.
