judges and get the go-ahead for their
three-minute warm-up period. The
Crisler crowd let them know who
was in charge.
"The reception we got when we
went up on the floor to address the
judges was very memorable," Golder
said. "They brought the house down.
It was great."
Mikulak and Caesar are going to
stay on in coaching roles during the
coming season. The Wolverines will
feature Adrian de los Angeles, a ju-
nior this year who missed the Big Ten
and NCAA competitions with a knee
injury. If not for Mikulak's efforts, de
los Angeles would have been the Big
Ten and NCAA all-around champion
as a sophomore.
Golder also redshirted some seri-
ous talent and has abundant fresh-
man firepower coming to Ann Arbor.
In other words, the Wolverines aren't
going away.
"We don't plan on it," he assured.
"We'll be right in the thick of it."
Golder also insists he's not focused
on his place in Michigan history. He
just wants more.
"I just feel grateful to be sur-
rounded with the coaches and the
administrators and the team mem-
bers we have here, and to have won
four NCAA championships," he said.
"But I don't think about being up
with the elite.
"That's not what I'm striving to do.
I'm a little more in the moment. Let's
get the next NCAA championship,
and then all of that historical stuff
will take care of itself. Stick to the
moment. The next mission is, let's get
it done next year. That's what we've
got to do." ❑
