In addition to the choice by The Wolverine regarding Michigan's Male Athlete
of the Year, a number of other contenders enjoyed very successful seasons.
Here is a look at some of the standouts from 2013-14.
1. Connor Jaeger, swimming and diving — Michigan's athletic department
picked Jaeger at the very top of its list of male athletes for the year, and it's not
hard to make a case for him. Jaeger, one of three senior captains for Michigan's
swim team, captured a second straight national championship in the 1,650-
yard freestyle, among his three All-America honors. The Big Ten Swimmer of
the Year paced the Wolverines to a fourth straight conference championship
and a No. 4 national finish.
2. Nik Stauskas, basketball — Stauskas went from a rookie component in
