FOOTBALL RECRUITING PORTER GUSTIN OLB/DE • 6-5 • 240 Salem, Utah (Salem Hills) Junior Statistics: Compiled 78 tackles, 17 tackles for loss, two sacks, one inter- ception and one forced fumble. 247Sports Rankings: Five- star recruit, the No. 23 overall prospect in the 2015 class, the No. 4 outside linebacker na- tionally and the No. 1 player in Utah. S k i n n y : U S C i s t h e heavy favorite for the 6-5, 240-pounder. Gustin is admittedly a fan of the Tro- jans, but said that will not factor into his decision. Notre Dame looks like the major competition for USC, and the Irish staff will make their pitch when he takes an official visit to campus Oct. 4 for the Notre Dame-Stanford game. Although he has received offers from Florida State, Ohio State, LSU, Miami and many others, Gustin continues to look like he will ultimately decide between USC and Notre Dame. SOSO JAMABO RB • 6-3 • 210 Plano, Texas (Plano) Junior Statistics: Carried the ball 120 times for 1,077 yards and scored 10 touchdowns. 247Sports Rankings: Four-star prospect, the No. 116 overall player in the na- tion, the No. 12 running back in the land and the No. 12 recruit in Texas. Skinny: Baylor, Oklahoma and Texas may look like the favorites on paper, but according to sources close to Jamabo's re- cruitment, this is a Notre Dame-UCLA battle. Jamabo was first on campus in South Bend June 9 and will return for an official visit when Notre Dame takes on Michigan Sept. 6. It's important to note that Jamabo's brother and best friend, the latter of whom is a Notre Dame fan, are both in favor of him choosing the Irish. ALIZ'E JONES TE • 6-4 • 222 Las Vegas (Bishop Gorman) Junior Statistics: Caught 35 passes for 571 yards and scored 10 touchdowns. 247Sports Rankings: Four-star player, the No. 129 overall recruit in the 2015 class, the No. 1 tight end nationally and the No. 2 prospect in Nevada. Skinny: UCLA holds a commitment from the nation's top tight end, but Notre Dame is hop- ing that Jones has a change of heart. The 6-4, 222-pounder visited South Bend twice in 2013 — once for camp June 24 and then Sept. 28 when the Irish took on Okla- homa. Jones is likely going to take all five of his official visits this fall, and it's ex- pected that one will be to Notre Dame. It also doesn't hurt Notre Dame's chances that 2015 safety commit Nicco Fertitta is Jones' good friend and team- mate at Bishop Gorman High School.
