nitely my teammates and my coaching staff. We've developed sort of a broth- erhood going into this season. I think that's going to make us a good team. Why I chose UVa: I chose UVa be- cause of the people who already are here. Some have gone on to the NFL. I do not regret my decision at all. Along with athletics, getting a degree from here will take me a long way. What I like the most about foot- ball: Definitely the game atmosphere. It's a rush every time I'm around it. The highlight of my athletic ca- reer: The Florida State game my first year. They missed a field goal, but there was a penalty and the refs put more time on the clock. Then, they missed the second attempt and we won the game [14-13]. The most important thing I've learned from football: Definitely I learned how to be a team player. I feel like this game is bigger than me. I feel like I need to put everything on the line for my teammates. My dream vacation would be: Jamaica. I've never been out of the country. My post-college ambition is: I would take over my dad's business (Brandon's father, Gary, sells insur- ance). — Mike Scandura ◆ Oct. 9, 1915 — Gene Mayer set the school record for single-game scoring when he led the Cavs to a 74-0 win over Richmond with 36 points scored. His point total included a school- record five touchdowns. ◆ Oct. 15, 1931 — Scott Stadium opened with an 18-3 loss to VMI; the Cavaliers would re- cord their first win inside of their current home in the season opener of the following year — Sept. 24, 1932, with a 32-0 win over Hampden- Sydney. ◆ Oct. 15, 2005 — Seventy-four years after the first game at Scott Stadium, unranked Vir- ginia recorded a 26-21 victory over No. 4 Florida State in Charlottesville. The game was played in front of 63,106 fans, which is still the fourth- largest home crowd ever for the Cavs and the largest to witness a victory in Charlottesville. this month in uva history PHOTO COURTESY UVA WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE … … TV show: "Family Guy" … movie: "The Rise of the Dark Knight" … actor and actress?
