WHERE HAVE YOU GONE?
More than a decade ago, the now
70-year-old Rassas lived up to his
promise of buying land and building
a home in Moose, Wyo., where he re-
sides in what he calls "God's back-
yard" overlooking Grand Teton Na-
tional Park, with his college buddy
Turner remaining a neighbor.
Rassas is the father of three adult
children and grandfather of four. His
oldest son, Sean, is a Delta pilot while
younger son, Todd — a three-time la-
crosse All-American at Notre Dame
from 1995-97 — has held top posts
with the United States government.
His daughter, Paige, travels the world
as a show equestrian.
Although he considers himself
somewhat of a recluse — "If you saw
what I'm looking at outside my back
door, you'd understand why" — Ras-
sas spends time with friends and
family elk hunting, regularly biking
on paths either to Yellowstone or the
Dairy Queen 37 miles away, tending
to his landscaping or just star gazing
on his back porch.
"We don't have any city lights at all,
and so when there is a clear night and
there is no moon, a dark moon, every
star in the universe is there," Rassas
said. "I always tell people, 'You want
to see a bit of heaven, I live there.'"
Just like he did a half-century ago. ✦
Rassas has lived in Wyoming's Teton Range for more than a decade and calls it his "bit of heaven."
