BY LOU SOMOGYI W ith a 107‑7 record the past three years, a current 52‑game winning streak in the regular season, consecutive unbeaten seasons in the Big East and then the ACC, and four straight NCAA Tourna‑ ment Final Four appearances, there are not many more new heights — beyond "Mt. UConn" — head coach Muffet Mc‑ Graw and her Irish have to scale. Nevertheless, it appears they will be on a "higher ground" this year with the inside presence of 6‑3 sophomore Taya Reimer and 6‑3 freshman Brianna Turner. Reimer was the 2013 Morgan Wootten Player of the Year among high school girls (2014 NBA first‑round pick Jabari Parker was the boys selection). Turner was last season's Gatorade Na‑ tional Female Athlete of the Year. The dynamic and rangy young "Twin Towers" provide a different dimension to McGraw's lethal Princeton motion offense that has been perimeter‑ori‑ ented in recent years with elite guards such as Skylar Diggins, Kayla McBride and current junior Jewell Loyd, who has been tabbed as a preseason All‑ A HIGHER GROUND Taya Reimer and Brianna Turner provide a strong inside presence Reimer, who averaged 7.4 points and 4.6 rebounds in 19.2 minutes per game in 2013‑14, can be effective in the high or low post.
