WOMEN'S BASKEBALL assists, 3.5 steals and 2.5 three-point field goals per game, while spearheading three New Jersey state championships and one New Jersey Tournament of Champions crown (across all groups and clas- sifications). As a junior, she averaged 20.5 points, 7.8 rebounds, 3.6 steals and 3.5 assists per contest. Of Note: Her older sister, Michaela, is a junior starting guard for the Irish and one of the nation's best three-point shooters. She was the fourth-lead- ing scorer last year (8.6 points per game) on the 37-1 team, third in assists (83) and easily the top three- point shooter, converting 72 at a 42.1-percent clip. McGraw On Mabrey: "Marina is so much more than a three-point shooter. She can play many posi- tions one through four. She can play on the perim- eter, she can go inside a little bit, she can post up, and is a really great passer. "Marina has a little bit more of an edge than Mi- chaela does. …. She will like the physical play. She's somebody that is not going to tolerate losing. … I think it will be fun to see some sparks fly when she gets here." Arike Ogunbowale • 5‑9 guard Milwaukee (Divine Savior Holy Angels High School) National Rankings: No. 4 in class of 2015 by All- Star Girls Report, No. 5 by Prospects Nation, No. 6 by Blue Star Basketball and No. 10 (five-star player) by espnW HoopGurlz/Dan Olson Collegiate Girls Basketball Report. Statistics: In 73 varsity games (58-15), she has career averages of 20.2 points, 10.1 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 2.6 steals per contest. She averaged 22.7 points, 12.3 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 2.8 steals per game last year as a junior. While leading No. 3-ranked Notre Dame to a 105-51 victory in the 2014-15 opener versus UMass Lowell Nov. 14, freshman forward Brianna Turner set the Notre Dame record for most points scored by a freshman in an opener with 22 — and that was just in the first half with only 11 minutes of playing time. Overall, Turner finished with 29 points on 13-of-18 shooting from the floor in 19 minutes. She added nine rebounds (five on offense), three blocked shots and a steal, although she did have four turnovers. Displaying a superb flash of burst and acceleration with her 6-3 frame, Turner repeatedly beat the op- position down the floor to finish layups. The 29 points shattered the previous Notre Dame record of 18 by a freshman in an opener during the 28-year era under head coach Muffet McGraw. Alicia Ratay set that mark in 1999 and Courtney LaVere matched it in 2002. "Phenomenal," summarized McGraw about Turner's maiden voyage into college basketball. "She plays like she practices. She does it every day in practice, so it's not a surprise in the game. … Bri runs the floor as well as anyone in the country." Returning All-American and junior Jewell Loyd scored 20 points while sophomore Taya Reimer, whose 20 minutes were the most for the Irish, had 10 points, nine rebounds and four assists. The starting lineup was rounded out by sophomore point guard Lindsay Allen and junior Michaela Mabrey. Senior Madison Cable led the bench with 10 points, while freshman Kathryn Westbeld had nine. — Lou Somogyi
