BY LOU SOMOGYI E verett Golson incon‑ spicuously walked into the Isban Audi‑ torium inside Notre Dame's Guglielmino Athletics Complex for his weekly Wednesday interview session prior to the Northwestern game Nov. 15. About two dozen me‑ dia members, who were interviewing other play‑ ers, did a double take. The senior quarterback, usually the last to arrive at the sessions, was about a half hour early. Instead of taking a place behind the podium, Golson casually sat down in one of the auditorium seats, ready to field more inquiries about the 55‑31 loss to Arizona State four days earlier. He had thrown for a career‑high 446 yards, but also tossed four interceptions and lost a fumble. The latter was going to be the prime topic, and he was quick to offer a favorite quote from his grandmother. "Yesterday is gone, to‑ morrow is not promised; you have to live in the present," Golson said. "I think that's what I'm do‑ ing right now." Lauded by head coach Brian Kelly through‑ out the week for taking accountability and as‑ serting himself more as a leader after the disap‑ pointment, Golson said his high‑reward, high‑ risk aggressiveness as a football player needs to be sharpened but not overhauled. "I don't think I'm going to change who I am," he said. "That's what makes me the player that I am."
