UNDER THE DOME Irish student-athletes excelling on the field and in the classroom Patrick Hodan — Soccer Notre Dame had never beaten Virginia without going to penalty kicks before the junior midfielder sparked the Irish to a 3-0 victory Nov. 9. Hodan scored his team-leading ninth goal of the season to give Notre Dame its final margin. He also assisted on the second goal of the afternoon, his third helper of the season. Hodan leads the Irish in shots (57) and shots on goal (27) as well. Emma Reaney — Swimming & Diving The senior collected six first-place finishes in a meet with Pittsburgh and Virginia Tech Nov. 7-8. Reaney won the 200-yard individual medley, the 200-yard breaststroke, the 100-yard breaststroke, the 100-yard butterfly, the 400-yard medley relay and the 200-yard medley relay. She also finished second in the 200- and 400-yard freestyle relays. Her 200-yard breaststroke time of 2:12.13 qualified as an NCAA B-cut time, likely earn- ing her an invite to the NCAA Championships. Her 200-yard individual medley time missed by one-hundredth of a second. Kathleen Severyn — Volleyball The senior started at libero for the first time this season and sparked Notre Dame's come-from-behind, 3-2 victory over Lou- isville Nov. 9. The Cardinals won the first two sets of the match before Severyn's career-high 18 digs and five assists helped the Irish comeback. Her two service aces on Notre Dame's first two serves of the fourth set led to an eventual 25-22 Irish victory to tie the match. Kaleigh Olmsted — Soccer The sophomore forward set up Notre Dame's only goal in the ACC Tournament, a 90th minute score off her corner kick. Despite being too little, too late — Florida State topped the Irish 3-1 — Olmstead's assist earned her all-tournament honors. Olmstead heads into the NCAA Tournament with two goals and four assists.
