WOMEN'S SOCCER (12-5-2, 7-2-1) Notre Dame lost 3-1 to No. 2 Florida State in the first round of the ACC Tournament Nov. 7. The Irish were awarded a No. 4 seed in the NCAA Tournament and were scheduled to host Valparaiso in the first round Nov. 14. WOMEN'S SWIMMING & DIVING The Irish women topped Pittsburgh 230-140, but lost to Virginia Tech 198-172 Nov. 7-8. Sophomore Catherine Mulquin won the 50-yard freestyle, the 100-yard freestyle and the 100-yard backstroke. She also swam a leg on the winning relay teams in the 200-yard medley relay and the 400-yard medley relay. MEN'S SWIMMING & DIVING Notre Dame lost to defending ACC champion Virginia Tech 201-169, but topped Pittsburgh 286-84 Nov. 7-8. Senior Zach Stephens won the 200-yard individual medley, barely beating Virginia Tech's Owen Burns to the wall. Stephens also won the 200-yard breaststroke, missing an NCAA B-cut qualifying time by a fifth of a second. Three more Irish swimmers finished in the top-seven in the 200-yard breaststroke. VOLLEYBALL (6-18, 3-10 ACC) Notre Dame overcame a two-set deficit to top Louisville 3-2 Nov. 9. Freshman Maddie Dilfer contrib- uted 48 assists to help four Irish players finish with double-digit kills — fifth-year senior Nicole Smith had 18, senior Jeni Houser and freshman Sydney Kuhn had 13 apiece and freshman Sam Fry added 11. — Douglas Farmer
