season, while fifth-year senior Me- gan Weschler finished 22 nd to garner all-regional recognition for the sec- ond straight year … The Wolverines finished third out of 14 teams at the Big Ten Championships, their fifth consecutive top three performance at the meet … Junior Shannon Osika took sixth to earn first-team All-Big Ten recognition — she had been a second-team selection twice — and was followed by Handler, whose eighth place showing earned her second-team all-conference recogni- tion … Sophomore Erin Finn, an All- American and the Big Ten champion in cross country last season, has been out of the lineup for over a month with a foot injury, missing the Big Ten Championships and the Great Lakes Regional. FIELD HOCKEY (13-7 OVERALL, 7-2 BIG TEN) After losing 2-1 in overtime to No. 10 Northwestern in the semifi- nal round of the Big Ten Tournament, Michigan was left out of the field for the NCAA Tournament, bringing its season to an abrupt end … The cam- paign was highlighted by a 3-2, road win over No. 6 Penn State. Fifth-year senior Ainsley McCallister scored the game-winning goal 4:12 into over- time, lifting then No. 18 Michigan to victory in its Big Ten opener … Fifth-year senior Leslie Smith was the leading scorer for the Wolverines, starting all 20 games and netting 14 goals and five assists for a total of 33 points. She also posted a team-best five game-winning goals … Three Wolverines earned All-Big Ten hon- ors, with Smith and McCallister mak- ing the first team, while junior Lau- ren Thomas received second-team recognition … Junior Jaime Dean was selected as Michigan's recipient for the Big Ten Sportsmanship Award. VOLLEYBALL (12-14 OVERALL, 7-9 BIG TEN) With just four regular-season matches remaining entering the next to last week in November, the Michi- gan volleyball team was in eighth place in the Big Ten … With a very young roster containing just one se- nior, the team had lost six of its last eight matches to Big Ten foes … The most notable win of the season hap- pened on Nov. 15 when the Wolver- ines beat No. 17 Ohio State in four sets … The win marked Michigan's third victory over a ranked opponent and eighth home win of the season … At 6-5, sophomore Abby Cole led the team with 353 kills and 92 blocks through 26 games … Junior Tiffany Morales paced the team in digs with 379 … Senior Lexi Dannemiller has set up her teammates more than any- one else with 683 assists … Given the team's record and conference stand- ing, the Wolverines will likely play their last match of the season against Illinois in Champaign on Nov. 29. MEN'S SOCCER (6-9-3 OVERALL, 3-3-2 BIG TEN) The Michigan men's soccer team's 2014 campaign came to an end with a 1-0 loss to second-seeded Ohio State in the Big Ten Tournament quarter-
