ringing in a top quarterback in each
recruiting cycle has been a top pri-
ority for Irish head coach Brian Kelly,
and that trend will likely continue with
the class of 2016.
In 2011, Kelly — in his staff's first
full recruiting cycle at Notre Dame —
signed Everett Golson, a four-star quar-
terback and the No. 227 overall player
in the nation according to 247Sports.
He followed that up in 2012 by bring-
ing in 247Sports' No. 1 pro-style quar-
terback and No. 24 overall prospect in
the land, five-star Gunner Kiel, who
has since transferred from the program
and is currently playing at the Univer-
sity of Cincinnati.
In 2013, Kelly signed U.S. Army
All-American and 247Sports' No. 10
dual-threat signal-caller Malik Zaire,
who serves as the backup to Golson
