after Pat Fitzgerald. They can't beat
him so go get him and let Kelly go to
the NFL.

POMP AND BAD CIRCUMSTANCE
As long as pompous Brian Kelly is
captain of the ship, Notre Dame will
never regain the prominence it once
had in the 20th century.
No power running game inside the
red zone — he'd rather pass it four
times and then give up the football;
abysmal special teams; can't coach
the fundamentals of hanging onto the
football, blocking and tackling; and
a lack of recruiting a two-deep de-
fense to compete with the teams in
the South.
He never tries trick plays, unless
you call the jet sweep a trick play. And
I don't ever remember Kelly calling for
a block punt.
Like one ESPN analyst once stated,
"I'd be nervous playing for Kelly." Did
you notice how much fun the North-
western team had playing for their
coach against Notre Dame? Kelly can't
bring that excitement.

Mr. Sontchi, we understand the criti-
cisms, and we also have great respect for
what Fitzgerald has achieved at North-
western. But we wonder how much fun
the Wildcats players had two weeks earlier
while losing 48-7 to Iowa.
As John F. Kennedy noted, "Victory has
a thousand fathers, and defeat is an or-
phan."
NICK'S KNACK
Thanks so much for the wonderful
article on Nick Rassas (Nov. 17, 2014,
Blue & Gold Illustrated), the quintessen-
tial walk-on story.
Nick was also the MVP in the
North/South Shrine game where he
returned a punt 90 yards for a touch-
down, still a Shrine Bowl record.
I can also tell you that he was an All-
American as a business partner in our
company — the ultimate team player
always going the extra mile and loved
by all.
Who is Rudy? Hollywood missed
on this one.
