The 35 first-half points by USC also was the most since Michigan State had a 42-3 advantage in 1998. 41.6 Average number of points surrendered by Notre Dame over the final seven games, with 31 the fewest on two occasions. The Irish yielded a minimum of 30 points in seven straight games during one season for the first time ever, and the second time overall. The 2006 team finished the season with 44-24 and 41-14 losses to USC and LSU, respectively, and then opened 2007 with a 0-5 record while allowing at least 31 points in each game. 49 Points by USC were its second most in the 86-game history against Notre Dame, be- hind the 55-24 victory in 1974 when the Trojans scored all their points within a 17-minute span. The 35-point triumph (49-14) by the Trojans was their second greatest margin of victory versus the Irish, behind only the 38-0 shutout of Notre Dame in 2007. 351 Points allowed by Notre Dame this sea- son, the most ever (with a bowl game still to be played). The previous standard was 345 points during the 3-9 season in 2007. 1,037 Yards receiving this season by sophomore WILL FULLER after totaling 75 on his five receptions at USC. He became the seventh different Irish receiver to eclipse 1,000 yards receiving in a season, and his yardage total this year so far ranks as the ninth most. 1926 The last season a left-handed quar- terback completed a pass on a play from scrimmage in a game for Notre Dame. That was by Art Parisien — ironically at the Los Angeles Coli- seum during a 13-12 Irish victory in their first game versus USC. Sophomore quarterback Malik Zaire ended that drought in the second quarter with a 49- yard completion to junior wide receiver Chris Brown. Sophomore wide receiver Will Fuller, who notched five catches for 75 yards against USC, became the sev- enth player in school history to eclipse 1,000 receiving yards in a season (1,037).
