UNDER THE DOME Irish student-athletes excelling on the field and in the classroom Luke Mishu — Soccer Along with fellow recent graduate and teammate Nick Besler, Mishu has been invited to participate in the 2015 adidas Major League Soccer combine. The event, which will take place Jan. 8-13 in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., highlights the skills of 55 NCAA Division I seniors just days prior to the Jan. 15 league draft. Mishu played every minute while recording five assists this season for the de- fending champion Irish. Katie Naughton — Soccer Along with teammate and fellow junior captain Cari Roccaro, Naughton was named a National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Women's University Division Scholar All- America third-team selection. The award stipulates that a player achieve at least a 3.30 cumulative grade-point average during her college career and start more than 50 percent of the team's games. The duo marks the first Notre Dame honorees for the award since 2010. Sam Fry — Volleyball While leading the Irish in several statistics in her first year at Notre Dame, Fry also earned a place on the 2014 All-ACC Freshman Team when the conference announced the awards in early December. The Cincinnati native was the squad's only player to start each game in 2014. She led Notre Dame in total blocks (107), service aces (21), points per set (3.03) and attack percentage (.242), while finishing third in kills (242) and kills per set (2.26). Jake Evans — Hockey The freshman helped the Irish storm back from a 2-0 third- period deficit to beat No. 6 Miami (Ohio) in the Florida College Hockey Classic Dec. 28. Evans scored the game-tying and game- winning goals to put Notre Dame in the win column. The victory gave the Irish three consecutive wins to begin December after a 1-6-2 mark in November.
