• Safety — This is not about com-
petition but improvement. Junior
Elijah Shumate and sophomore Max
Redfield arrived with huge fanfare,
but they must become forces in defen-
sive coordinator Brian VanGorder 's
scheme after losing their starting roles
late in the year.
• Center — The interior never truly
meshed this season, and a hand injury
forced captain Nick Martin to shift
from center to left guard by the fourth
game. Will Martin return to center in
2015 and fellow potential fifth-year
senior Matt Hegarty move back to
guard? ✦
