FOOTBALL RECRUITING Smith is a new name on the radar for Michigan fans. He made an early com- mitment to the University of Florida, but with the firing of head coach Will Mus- champ — and the move to Ann Arbor for former Gators defensive coordinator D.J. Durkin — he's now interested in taking a trip to Ann Arbor. MIKE WEBER 5-10, 215 • Detroit Cass Tech Four-star recruit, No. 1 player in Michigan, No. 8 running back nationally and No. 71 overall prospect in the country Weber is a former Michigan commit, but is now a member of the 2015 class for the hated Ohio State Buckeyes. He's already crossed rivalry lines once, but could he flip right back? He's willing to speak with Harbaugh to determine his interest, but makes no guarantees of a visit, much less a commitment. TYRONE WHEATLEY JR. 6-6, 245 • Buffalo (N.Y.) Canisius Four-star prospect, No. 1 player in New York and No. 22 strongside defensive end nationally Wheatley is a versatile prospect, seeing college interest at defensive end, tight end and even offensive tackle over the course of his process. Michigan could use him at any of those positions, and would stand a strong chance to land him with his dad — former Wolverine All-American running back Tyrone Sr. — landing on Harbaugh's staff. The elder Wheatley was previously the running backs coach for the Buffalo Bills. Montezuma (Ga.) Macon County product Roquan Smith, the No. 7 outside linebacker and No. 64 overall prospect in the class of 2015 according to Rivals.com, originally commit- ted to Florida but could now follow former Gators defensive coordinator D.J. Durkin to Ann Arbor. PHOTO COURTESY RIVALS.COM
