FRESHMEN FINDING THEIR WAY Beilein has a 15-man roster featur- ing six true freshmen and a redshirt freshman. While he's showcased several rookies recently who spent two years at Crisler before opting out early for the NBA — including Big Ten Players of the Year Stauskas and Trey Burke, who was also consensus National Player of the Year — this is different. Michigan has a crop of freshmen that will grow together and become integral parts. It does not have any- one who will be gone after next sea- son. Chatman started the first 14 games, but was shooting 29.3 percent over- all through 17 games, including 25.0 percent from three-point range. He's also trying to grow in his understand- ing of what Michigan is doing at both ends of the court. True freshman Ricky Doyle has stepped up the most forcefully among the rookies.
