MICHIGAN BASKETBALL • Michigan turned the ball over only five times in winning the Big Ten opener, the fewest give- aways the Wolverines have featured in a game since committing only four versus Texas in the NCAA Tournament last March 22. • Freshman forward Aubrey Dawkins scored a career-high 20 points, largely acquired through a career-best six three-pointers, to help Michi- gan defeat the Illini. The six threes tied junior guard Caris LeVert's effort as the most made in a game by a Michigan player this year. • Purdue's 64-51 win over the Wolverines at Mackey Arena Jan. 3 extended the Boilermakers' all-time series advantage to 84-67. Michigan's 18 second-half points marked its worst effort in a half this season, and the Wolverines garnered a season-low 22 rebounds. • Junior guard Spike Albrecht tied a career high with 17 points in the loss to Purdue. He also played in his 90th consecutive game for the Wolverines. • Michigan's 73-64 win at Penn State Jan. 6 pushed its all-time series lead against the Nittany Lions to 31-12. The Wolverines have won eight of their last nine games against Penn State, including four of five at the Bryce Jor- dan Center. • Albrecht made his first start of the season, and 91st consecutive game ap- pearance overall, against the Nittany Lions. • Irvin posted a career-high nine rebounds in the win over Penn State. Freshman guard Muhammad-Ali Abdur-Rahkman made his first career three- pointer in the game. Overall, Michigan connected on a season-best 60.0 percent (9 of 15) from beyond the arc against the Nittany Lions. • Michigan committed a season-worst 15 turnovers in the win at Penn State, but none over the final 8:30 in the game. • The Wolverines' 62-57 win over Minnesota at Crisler Center Jan. 10 boosted Michigan's all-time lead in that series to 89-65. Head coach John Beilein is now 11-3 against the Gophers. • LeVert tied a career high with four steals against Minnesota, and Walton tied a career high with three three-pointers. Doyle matched a career best with six rebounds. • Michigan's 71-52 loss at Ohio State left U-M down 100-76 in the all-time se- ries against OSU, and snapped the Wolverines' three-game win streak against the Buckeyes.
