staff that we put together here." Former Boise State offensive coor- dinator Mike Sanford takes over as offensive coordinator and quarter- backs coach. The former Mishawaka (Ind.) Penn High School quarterback is regarded as one of college foot- ball's brightest young minds. His first priority as defined by Kelly is to develop Notre Dame's quarterbacks. "Really love his attention to detail, his ease of communication," Kelly said. "In other words, he's very easy to talk to. The players feel very com- fortable with him. It's easy for him to get his point across on a day-to-day basis. "Just love his ability to communi- cate. He's an effective communicator on a day-to-day basis. I think he's going to be able to do great things with our quarterback position and develop our quarterbacks on a day- to-day basis." Kelly said a decision on whether he, Sanford or Denbrock will call plays is unlikely to be made until after spring practice. "That's something we're still kind of working through at this point," Kelly said. "I don't think we've made a definitive decision. We're still in the process of really working through the offense, making any im- provements to it. That's not really on the priority list. … We'll get to that."
