FOOTBALL RECRUITING mer heavyweight boxing champion Evander Holyfield a priority, and that's why he is visiting. Florida, Georgia and Michigan are also in the mix. STEFFON MCKNIGHT Wide Receiver • San Diego Mira Mesa Rivals.com Rankings: Four stars, No. 26 prospect in California, No. 29 wide re- ceiver nationally and No. 149 overall player in the country. The Skinny: McKnight doesn't hold a Notre Dame scholarship offer, but that hasn't prevented him from setting up a cross-country trip to South Bend. The dynamic wideout is being courted by a number of Pac-12 schools. AUSTIN MACK Wide Receiver • Fort Wayne (Ind.) Bishop Luers Rivals.com Rankings: Four stars, No. 1 player in Indiana, No. 38 wide re- ceiver in the country and No. 192 overall recruit in the nation. The Skinny: Mack is considered a heavy Ohio State lean, but getting him on campus has been a goal for the Irish coaching staff. AUSTON ROBERTSON Defensive End • Fort Wayne (Ind.) Wayne Rivals.com Rankings: Four stars, No. 2 recruit in Indiana, No. 9 weakside de- fensive end nationally and No. 202 overall player in the land. The Skinny: Robertson's family is from Ohio, and he's visited Ohio State numerous times. But the Buckeyes already have two defensive ends committed, and Robertson said his relationship isn't the strongest with the staff. Notre Dame wants Robert- son, and he's well aware. BRANDON PETERS Quarterback • Avon (Ind.) High Rivals.com Rankings: Four stars, No. 3 prospect in Indiana, No. 5 pro-style quarterback in the country and No. 211 overall recruit nationally. The Skinny: There wasn't much contact between Notre Dame and Peters until new offensive coordinator Mike San- ford arrived. He doesn't hold a Notre Dame offer, but LSU and Nebraska have recently extended bids. MICHAEL JORDAN Offensive Tackle • Canton (Mich.) Plymouth Rivals.com Rankings: Four stars, No. 4 player in Michigan, No. 21 offensive tackle in the land and No. 247 overall prospect in the nation. The Skinny: Offensive tackle — like defensive end — is a need, and Jordan is a top target. He'll visit on March 20 with his father but could hang around for the Junior Day the next day. KHALID KAREEM Defensive End • Farmington Hills (Mich.) Harrison Rivals.com Rankings: Four stars, No. 5 recruit in Michigan, No. 13 weakside defensive end nationally and No. 248 overall player in the country. The Skinny: Kareem is an academics- oriented individual — he holds an offer from Yale — and has a previous relationship with new defensive line coach Keith Gilmore. Michigan State is believed to be the team to beat, but the Irish are in position to make up ground. ✦
