chose UVa in June over offers from Akron, Penn State, Pitt, Temple and West Virginia. Griffin, the No. 24 recruit in Virginia and the No. 70 corner nationally according to Rivals.com, was a longtime commit to Wisconsin prior to the coaching change there and, once former Badger assistant Chris Beatty was hired by London in Charlottesville, committed to the Cavaliers just before National Signing Day. The 5-9, 185-pound three-star was a teammate of Simmons' at Ocean Lakes, where he had 49 tackles, nine passes bro- ken up and two interceptions as a senior. He also ran for 665 yards on 56 carries and scored nine touchdowns on the ground on his way to a first- team all-state campaign. The other 11 signees all will get their first shots on the offensive side of the ball, starting with three-star quarterback Nick Johns. Easily the sig- nal-caller that UVa wanted the most throughout the recruiting process, the 6-4, 215-pounder from Washington (D.C.) Gonzaga committed to the Cavaliers over North Carolina State and Maryland in May of last year. After having his junior season shortened by a broken clavicle, he completed 101 of 155 throws (65.1 percent) for 1,366 yards with 12 touchdowns while leading Gonzaga to the D.C. championship. Rivals.com lists him as the No. 5 player in the District of Columbia and the No. 19 pro-style quarterback in the land. UVa also signed a pair of running backs in Olamide Zaccheaus and Christopher Sharp, who committed to the Cavaliers within three days of each other late last summer. Zaccheaus, a 5-8, 195-pound three-star from Philadelphia St. Jo- seph's Prep, picked Virginia over offers from Cin- cinnati, Miami, Ohio, Pitt and Temple, and then went on to average 7.0 yards per rush as a senior. He ran for 683 yards total and nine touchdowns, while adding 29 receptions for 368 yards and four scores en route to Philadelphia High School first- team All-Catholic recognition. Sharp is a 6-2, 195-pound three-star who starred at both running back and linebacker for Princeton (N.J.) The Hun School. He posted 1,085 yards on 81 rushing attempts as a senior and scored 19 touchdowns on his way to all-state honors. He chose the Hoos over offers from Boston College, Iowa, Kansas, Old Dominion and Rutgers. It wouldn't be a Virginia signing class without a commitment from Our Lady of Good Counsel in Olney, Md. The Wahoos pulled another com- mitment from that powerhouse program in early August by landing three-star wide receiver Myles Robinson. The 5-11, 175-pounder, who chose UVa over offers from Michigan State, Ohio State and West Virginia, was slowed by a hamstring 2015 UVA FOOTBALL SIGNEES Name Pos. Ht. Wt.
