MICHIGAN FOOTBALL to-back games (for a total of nine times), and no one had done it in the first two games to start a new campaign. Former linebacker Shawn Crable (2004-07) holds the single-season record for tackles for loss with 28.5 in 2007. Wormley, who added a tackle for loss against UNLV in week three and has seven on the year, is presently on pace for 28.0. • With 19 catches for 201 yards and one touchdown in three games, Michigan's tight ends have already surpassed the production for the entire season by the position group in 2008 (eight grabs), and they have equaled the efforts in 2010 (19) while approaching the totals from 2012 (20) and 2009 (21). "We've had a good track record developing tight ends and them playing well," U-M head coach Jim Harbaugh said. "Something about our system is good for tight ends, and other players. "Coming here, we have a very good player in [junior] Jake Butt, and it's nice to see the other tight ends getting involved and improving. Guys like [redshirt freshman] Ian Bunting and [senior] A.J. Williams have been contributing, [redshirt sophomore] Henry Poggi is doing a very nice job, came over from the defensive side and is in the mix. "It's good for our football team to have players develop." • Junior tailback De'Veon Smith broke 13 tackles en route to his career-best 126- yard performance against Oregon State Sept. 12. "When you have a running back that is making you look good, and running over defenders, it really gets you going," redshirt junior left tackle Erik Magnuson said. "You want to block that much harder and fight that much harder." • Junior cornerback Jourdan Lewis played in the UNLV game despite suffering a mild concussion in the first half of Michigan's 35-7 win over Oregon State. The 5-10, 175-pounder started each of the first three games for the Wolverines and leads U-M in passes broken up (six) while recording nine tackles. • Grant Perry's three receptions against Utah represented the second-best tally ever produced by a true freshman wideout in a season opener, trailing only Mar- tavious Odoms' five catches against Utah in 2008. • Harbaugh is probably not the most pleasant person to be around after a loss, and he admits that he allows a defeat to simmer for days. "Some people go with the, 'It takes 24 hours to get over a game, 48 hours,'" he said. "I think everybody is a little different. Some people walk right out of the locker room and they've let it go. I'm not one of those guys. "It stays with me, and I choose to have it stay with me. There is a bad taste in my mouth when we lose a football game, and there is only one mouthwash for that, and that's winning a football game." • Michigan fell to 7-6-1 in season openers away from The Big House during the past 50 years, and is 3-7 in its last 10 road games, dating back to the 2013 season, after falling to Utah Sept. 3.
