INSIDE MICHIGAN ATHLETICS Getting To Know Freshman Wide Receiver Grant Perry The freshman from Bloomfield Hills (Mich.) Brother Rice was actually commit- ted to Northwestern before picking up an offer from his dream school late in the recruiting cycle. Fast-forward to the fall and Perry is looking like a key part of the new Michi- gan offense; he even earned a start- ing spot in game one. Through three games, he has three receptions for 41 yards. Nickname: "It's an easy one, GP." Favorite restaurant in Ann Arbor: "Mister Spots." Best meal he can cook by himself: "I'm not sure. I guess scrambled eggs." Sports he plays besides football: "Track and basketball when I was in high school." Hobbies: "I really like just hanging out with friends. Nothing too crazy for me." Favorite TV show: "'Breaking Bad.'" Favorite movie: "All-time [favorite] would probably be 'The Pursuit of Hap- pyness.'" Favorite football venue: "That's easy, The Big House." Favorite professional athlete: "My favorite athlete of all time is Jerry Rice, [I have] lots of motivation because of him." Role model: "My dad." Why he chose football over track and basketball: "My favorite sport has always been football. There's nothing like strapping on a helmet. It was an easy choice." What he hopes to do after football at Michigan: "I want to become a coach at some level. I'd love to be around the game from that standpoint." His overall U-M experience: "I'm loving it, absolutely loving it. It's been real packed with a lot to do, but I've loved everything we've done day to day." — Brandon Brown Rookie wideout Grant Perry has appeared in each of the first three games this year and posted three receptions, which have gained 41 yards.
