GAME PREVIEW: BOSTON COLLEGE Tyler Murphy and offensive lineman Ian Silberman. Murphy completed 131 of 230 passes (57.0 percent) for 1,623 yards with 13 touchdowns and 10 inter- ceptions, in addition to compiling 1,179 yards and 11 scores on the ground be- hind Silberman and company. Murphy and Silberman are gone after exhausting their eligibility, and Addazio has not been able to adequately replace either player. Now the Eagles are on a six-game losing streak entering its matchup with Notre Dame. "It's a big game for Addazio," said Eric Hoffses, who covers Boston Col- lege at EagleAction.com on the Rivals network. "A lot of people thought go- ing into this year that this would be a down season for BC. This year he's kind of rolled the dice on the younger play- ers instead of opting for the graduate transfer route — I'm not sure if it was because they couldn't get the players or what, but he's rolled with the young guys, and so now they're really strug- gling on offense. "I think because the team is so boring to watch with the offense, some of the fans are getting a little restless about Addazio. They've shown some patience with the rebuild, but he's shown some poor clock management at times this year, among other issues. So I think something BC fans are looking for is to see how this game goes, because there will be a lot of eyes on it. And if he makes more bad decisions in that aspect of the game, I think his seat will be a little hotter going into next year." Offensively, the Eagles rank among the worst units in the country in nu- merous categories. Their 4.32 yards per play ranks 126th nationally, ahead of only Central Florida and Kent State among all Football Bowl Subdivision teams. They're averaging 17.3 points per game, which ranks 119th nationally, but 76 of their 173 points on the season — a staggering 44.7 percent — came in one contest, a 76-0 blowout over Howard, a 1-8 Football Championship Subdivision team.
