  BASKETBALL RECRUITING BY CHRIS BALAS T hose who follow recruiting closely know there's no such thing as a sure thing. No matter how good a team might look with a certain pros- pect, it can change in a hurry. Michigan basketball's 2016 class is a prime example. The Wolverines seemed to lead for a number of top prospects and landed one, five-star shooting guard Tyus Battle of Glad- stone, N.J, only to see him decommit three weeks later. U-M had moved on from Madison (Ala.) Academy five-star wing Josh Langford after Battle's pledge — he ended up sign- ing with Michigan State as a result. John Beilein and his staff picked up the pieces and moved on. Of the many recruits they had tar- geted early on, only one — Medina (Ohio) High four-star center Jon Teske (7-0,'s No. 108 se- nior nationally) — received an offer early in the process.
