The Best US National Team Development
Program Players At Michigan
Since its inception for the 1997‑98 season, the U.S. National Team Develop‑
ment Program has sent hundreds of its graduates on to NCAA programs, includ‑
ing 36 future Wolverines.
Junior Tyler Motte is one of four current U‑M skaters that developed with the
USNTDP, joining juniors J.T. Compher and Evan Allen, and sophomore Zach
Werenski.
Perhaps by the end of their careers, Compher, Motte or Werenski might rank
among the best USA Hockey players to have donned the maize and blue. Here
are the top five with the years they played for the USNTDP.
Kevin Porter posted 85 markers and 98 assists during his time at Michigan (2005-08) en
route to becoming the program's second Hobey Baker Award winner.
