FAN FORUM THUMBS UP REVIEW There has been much discussion about the state of the broadcasts for Notre Dame's home games this year. I would like to weigh in on this dis- cussion by commending the broad- cast crew, notwithstanding Tom Ham- mond. Dan Hicks has done an admirable job. He is respectful, supportive and objective, and displays the utmost professionalism. With respect to Doug Flutie, I think we should be honored to have him doing our games. Not only have I felt this way all season, but in the wake of the tragic news of the passing of both his parents he displayed the ultimate composure, as well as objec- tive and insightful commentary, for the ND-BC game. Both men provide top-notch game analysis and bring integrity to the booth. I believe both Dan Hicks and Doug Flutie are consummate profes- sionals and deserve the respect and admiration of the ND audience. We are lucky to have them. Tim Kennedy Oro Valley, Ariz. OPTION GAME The key question is this: Would it be better for Notre Dame to make the Col- lege Football Playoff and get soundly defeated, or go to a New Year 's Six Bowl game and win? Which of those two outcomes pro- vides better lift for the offseason and recruiting? "Hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things, and no good thing ever dies!" — Shawshank Redemption Gorman Findlay Centre Hall, Pa. Some Irish fans have wondered whether it would be better to reach the College Football Playoff and be soundly defeated on the national stage or to win a New Year's Six bowl game.
