PREP PROFILES When Brian Kelly was introduced as Notre Dame's head coach, he took to the podium on National Signing Day 2010 and explained how he planned to fill out the Irish's two-deep. "I recruit power, big skill and skill," Kelly said. "Those are the three cat- egories, those are the only three cat- egories I operate out of." It was an inter- esting take at the time, given Kelly's limited track re- cord of attracting recruits at smaller programs. How- ever, the statement has held up over the years, and a re- cent target on the recruiting trail for the Irish meets that criteria. Notre Dame is set to host Akron (Ohio) Hoban three-star athlete Jonah Morris for an official visit the weekend of Dec. 11. Morris, who decommitted from Michigan State Nov. 12, plays wide receiver and safety at Hoban, but he's being recruited to play everything from tight end to linebacker and cor- nerback in college. "He's long and athletic," Rivals re- cruiting analyst Josh Helmholdt said of the 6-4, 190-pound Morris. "I think coaches just get enamored with what they can do with him." Notre Dame hasn't given Morris an exact position, but he fits right into that skill category Kelly has described in the past, and that's why he's on the recruiting board for the Irish as an athlete. "My dad just said he wants to see the campus, meet the coaches and see if that's a place he sees me at," Morris said when asked about the of- ficial visit. "I want to see if I could see myself at that place for the future." Morris has also heard from Ken- tucky, Indiana and Pittsburgh since backing away from his pledge to the Spartans. "Those are pretty much the schools I've been in touch with since decom- mitting," Morris told Rivals. "Notre Dame likes me both ways. At Indiana, they think I can play both ways there, too. … It doesn't matter to me, what- ever best suits me for the next level." Morris caught 21 passes for 273 yards and a touchdown as a junior. He is ranked by Rivals as the No. 42 prospect in the Buckeye State.
