Senior Molly Seidel captured the women's cross country individual national championship
Nov. 21, crossing the finish line in first place with a time of 19:28.6 for the 6,000-meter race.
She was the first Notre Dame individual female runner to win a national title in school his-
tory — and the first overall since Oliver Hunter on the men's side in 1942 — leading the Irish
women to an eighth-place showing as a team. Head coach Alan Turner said before the sea-
son the program had set goals for an individual national champion and a top-10 team finish.
