The Walking Wounded The reason recruiting has to be a 365-days-a-year job is because injuries and attrition are an inevitable part of most football seasons. It's been highlighted in 2015 with all the games missed by starters, co- starters, niche starters or prime reserves (and does not include senior safety Elijah Shumate sitting out the first half at Pitt Nov. 7 because of a targeting violation the previous week in the second half versus Temple). Here was the list of games missed (unofficially 97) through the regular-season finale at Stanford Nov. 28: This does not even include the losses of two players who at the end of spring were considered vital figures to the operation. Quarterback Everett Golson, who started all 12 regular season games in 2014, opted to use his fifth season at Florida State, while junior running back Greg Bryant was declared aca- demically ineligible this August, transferred to ASA College Miami and later announced he will enroll at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Finally, 2011 five-star defensive end recruit Ishaq Williams did not suit up his last two seasons (2014 and 2015) because of academic issues. — Lou Somogyi Player Games Missed NG Jarron Jones 12 CB Shaun Crawford 12 RB Tarean Folston 11 S Avery Sebastian 11 QB Malik Zaire 10 TE Durham Smythe 10 Player Games Missed S Drue Tranquill 9 OG Alex Bars 6 WR Equanimeous St. Brown 3 RB C.J. Senior nose guard Jarron Jones has not played since the 2014 Senior Day loss to Louisville due to a season-ending Lisfranc injury last year and a knee injury this past August. PHOTO BY BILL PANZICA
