PREP PROFILES Cheshire (Conn.) Academy stand- out Tarik Black — one of the top wide receivers in the junior class — at- tended Notre Dame's 19-16 win over Boston College Nov. 21 at Fenway Park, getting an up close look at the Irish while taking in the uniqueness of a college football game being played i n a l e g e n d a r y baseball stadium. "It was a great a t m o s p h e r e , " Black said. "Notre D a m e ' s d e f e n s e obviously played great; it was a very low scoring game. I would have liked to see a little bit more of an air raid on the offensive side of the ball, and taking some more shots down field. But obviously it was a good game." The 6-3, 201-pound Black — who is rated by Rivals as the top player in Connecticut, and the No. 15 wide receiver and No. 122 overall pros- pect nationally in the 2017 class — has had multiple conversations with Notre Dame's staff, but does not hold a scholarship offer just yet. He is opti- mistic that offer comes down the line, though, and when it does it seems Notre Dame would be firmly in the mix. "Based on what I've heard from talking with the coaches I know they have a pretty high level of interest in me," Black said. "I'm just hopeful for the opportunity to maybe one day be a part of the Fighting Irish. "I like how they're really starting to build up. Traditionally, Notre Dame has always been a powerhouse. They went through a lit- tle slump, but now I'm glad to see it really back on its feet." Black aims to see a game in South Bend in the future, which would give him an opportu- nity to check out the academic side of the school. The junior has already collected more than 20 offers, includ- ing Alabama, Michigan, Michigan State and Boston College. "I'm looking at all my options right now," Black said. "A solid education, to create a 40-year plan rather than a four-year plan. "I'm trying to look past college be- cause I understand there's life after football. I want a school that will put me in the best position to further my- self as a person and give me an op- portunity to make an early impact." — Jordan Wells Connecticut Receiver Visits Irish At Fenway TARIK BLACK ✪ ✪ ✪ ✪ Cheshire Academy Cheshire, Conn.
