FOOTBALL RECRUITING ROUNDUP Recruiting Notes • Notre Dame won't waste any time when it comes to trying to put the final touches on this cycle's recruiting class. The day after the Irish face Stanford in Palo Alto Nov. 28, the coaches — including head coach Brian Kelly — are expected to stay out on the West Coast and hit the road recruiting. With an NCAA contact period running from Nov. 29 to Dec. 14, the Irish will a have a chance to meet with the top targets left on the recruiting board like Fontana (Calif.) Summit High four-star wide receiver Damian Alloway. Alloway — who is ranked by Rivals as the No. 20 recruit in California, and the No. 20 wide receiver and No. 110 overall prospect in the nation — was in South Bend for the Wake Forest game Nov. 14. The 5-10, 170-pound slot specialist left campus high on the Irish, but with the understanding that Kelly was looking for a commitment — and soon. "Coach Kelly said whenever I'm ready, he's ready. They're not really giving me a timeline, but they did say that if they start to feel like I'm not going to go there, they are going to move on and try to find a guy to take that spot, because they need someone," Al- loway said. "I understand that it's a business." Notre Dame is also expected to meet with Corona (Calif.) Centennial four-star wide receiver Javon McKinley and Gardena (Calif.) Junipero Serra four- star defensive end Wole Betiku while in the Los An- geles area. Rivals ranks McKinley as the No. 18 wide receiver and No. 96 overall prospect in the country. Betiku is listed as the No. 4 strongside defensive end and No. 36 overall recruit in the land. • Notre Dame is already set to host one five-star linebacker for an official visit in December, when Fresno (Calif.) Clovis West's Caleb Kelly visits for the banquet weekend Dec. 11, but now another could be on the way. Gordo (Ala.) High five-star linebacker Ben Davis canceled a planned trip to Ole Miss and said that he's looking to replace the official visit on his schedule with one to Notre Dame. "I'm thinking about it," Davis told Blue & Gold Illustrated on Nov. 19. The Irish are in need of linebackers this cycle, and the 6-3, 240-pound Davis is ranked as the nation's No. 1 inside linebacker and No. 6 overall prospect by Rivals. He's also considering Alabama, Auburn, LSU, Georgia and Michigan. — Andrew Ivins Follow @@BGI_AndrewIvins on Twitter for daily recruiting updates available on BlueandGold.com!
